LONDON — A unique test film for an as-yet undisclosed title is going into production, says autuer writer-director @mxreigner to Procrastinator Weekly's chief film correspondant.
The piece is being produced as part of Reigner's mini PhD currently being undertaken at the University of the Arts London (UAL). The work is classed as practise-based research, and will be submitted in two parts. One, a dissertation, and Two, a five minute film piece that aims to interrogate and demonstrate the topic of exploration: Psychovisual Cinema.
In a brief discussion with Procrastinator Weekly, the hurried MXR gave this short statement on the way to a photoshoot today:
"You'll be able to come and watch a presentation on this project delivered by proxy, to hear about Psychovisual Cinema and how it relates to Narrative and the four layers of textuality that the paper identifies as the key constituents of any screen, stage or written text."
— Reigner
Answering more of our quickfire questions before they disappear on their commute, Reigner clarifies that the presentation will consist of a six-minute-forty Pecha Kucha on the research, followed by a screening of the five minute film.
We were able to get one final piece of information before MXR slipped out of sight: the film will be untitled and uncredited, with these details presumably contained in the Pecha Kucha performed prior. More interestingly, Reigner adds that the script for the film was lifted directly out of that of their second planned feature film and reworked slightly for this project.
We shouted one final question as our proximity to Reigner dwindled, asking to confirm the title of this second feature, but the writer-director had already gone.
Safe to say, we're looking forward to seeing a version of the presentation either online or in person, no doubt performed by Reigner's shining star, the actor obstinately credited in lowercase in true MXR fashion at the end of each of Reigner's films: mars, who made their most recent appearance alongside fellow actor, influencer and red-carpet frequent, Grecia Castillo De La Paz and film festival-selected filmmaker Maryam Hassanein in Reigner's latest release, an alternative music video for Bohemian Rhapsody.
